Garden has lost some of its authentic feel, the Piazza and market
are full of life and street entertainers. The restoration of the

and the old alleyways and courtyards, such as Neal’s yard,
have had a makeover too. The old warehouses provide loft apartments
for rich city whiz kids. The shops around the pedestrianised Piazza

places to do your shopping. The Royal Opera House
Mahler conducted Wagner in this building, which dates from 1858.

from an antiquated 19th century theatre into a state of the art
21st century opera house. Its orchestra and the Royal Ballet Company
are world famous.

cafes, shops and stalls, while musicians and performers add to the atmosphere
with open-air shows. Don’t miss the Museum Store, 37 The Market Tel:
020 7431 7156, which sells copies of objects from museums all over the
world.
The Box
This trendy bar draws a very mixed crowd during the day, but
is predominately gay in the evening. It’s a really friendly
place, so make sure you take time out from your busy schedule to
sit down at one of its pale wooden tables and soak up the calm,
relaxed atmosphere.
